At a young age, I was always taught to cherish old memories and be happy with what I have. But when I grew up, my perspective completely changed, and I always don’t feel enough with what I have. The goal can’t be satisfied; I never feel “successful enough.” The high only lasts a day or two, and then it’s on to the next goal. I wondered what it feels like to be enough. After years of searching, the only time I feel enough is to feel peace in my outer and inner feelings. I wondered what it feels like to be at peace. What does peace mean to me?
For several weeks, I tried going to cocktail bars at night to find the feeling of peace because it provides a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Eventually, I realized this tranquility is not what I’m looking for. In the process, I also found how much I hate drinking alcohol lol.
Fast forwarding to today, after relentless trials and errors, I found what peace means to me. The story began when I was assigned to be on the case team of a consulting project of Vinhomes in Vietnam. One day, when I finished a meeting with the client early in the evening, I decided to explore the areas around Vinhomes Central Park to observe as well as hopefully finding some new insights for the clients. I settled down on a lawn located right at the center of the park. The moment when I laid down on grass to watch sunset, to watch people enjoy their life, to listen to birds’ chirping with the evening breeze, I said, “Oh, I'll call this feeling peace.”
